Brawl Stars Changes Its Most Successful Expansion Again

Brawl Stars’ latest expansion boosted revenue 69.2% 3Wo3W, making it the app’s most impactful expansion yet.

Brawl Stars Changes Its Expansion Format Again

Brawl Stars’ Battle for Katana Kingdom follows the structure of the app’s recent major expansions by offering event abilities, new skins, and several new modes. However, this expansion splits its content into four weekly stages, introduces a centralized progression with milestone rewards, and adds a dedicated event hub. These mechanics drive players to return to the expansion each week, helping sustain engagement throughout the event’s long run.

Battle for Katana Kingdom also marks a return to hero-specific, gacha-based event abilities, deviating from the previous expansion’s universal, deterministic abilities. This shift likely stems from the performance of previous expansions: the deterministic system struggled to sustain spend over time, whereas earlier gacha-based expansions delivered stronger long-term revenue impacts.

As a result of these changes, Battle for Katana Kingdom achieved the highest 3Wo3W revenue and ARPDAU lift of any major Brawl Stars expansion in the past year.
